The Bach views the Manawatu Bird Sanctuary and river mouth.  It's close to playgrounds and the boat ramp.  Kite surfing lessons and fishing trips bookable. 

 

The town often has fairs on public holidays. Wellington, Ruapehu, sking and tramping are all within two hours by car.
